Research Area: Role of Gata Transcription Factors in Intestinal Development
Upon participating in the Summer Program for Undergraduate Research, I immediately felt at home in MCW. I entered the graduate school through the Interdisciplinary Program in Biomedical Sciences having little idea of my research interests aside from a fascination in cell signaling instilled by my undergraduate work. After completing four laboratory rotations, I joined the Battle lab, which primarily studies intestinal development. My project focuses on post-translational modifications of the GATA4 transcription factor and its role in determining gene regulation in the intestine.
