Research Area: Genetics and Signaling of inner ear development
After receiving my Bachelor degrees from Virginia Wesleyan College and my Master’s degree from Miami University in Ohio, I was accepted into the IDP program here at MCW. My scholastic interests are in developmental biology and genetics. I am currently working in Dr. Shim’s lab trying to understand the genetics and cellular signaling involved in inner ear development. It has been found that there are many signaling pathways active in the developing inner ear, but little is known about how these pathways work together to develop a proper inner ear structure. My aim in the Shim lab is to help piece together the complex signaling network and get a better understanding of how these different pathways function to induce and develop the mouse inner ear.
