Lakeshore Lodge

The principal purpose of this project is to expand and enhance the "Drop-In Center" mental health program already established by the Manitowoc County Human Services Department and the Manitowoc affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Partners:

  • Center for Healthy Communities, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Medical College of Wisconsin
  • Manitowoc County Human Services Department
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness

Goals of the Program:

  • Pre-implementation of programming for the Lakeshore Lodge clubhouse
  • Begin expansion of the Drop-In Center to a clubhouse operating a minimum of three full days per week
  • Expand the operations of Lakeshore Lodge
  • Develop a sustainability plan for Lakeshore Lodge

Project Period:

  • June 1, 2007 - June 30, 2010

Current Activities:

  • Review, select, and modify existing programs for target population
  • Develop small grant protocol for group home residents
  • Work together to develop a speaker series
  • Recruit people receiving services outside of Manitowoc County Human Services Department

Future Plans:

  • Expand hours of operation of clubhouse
  • Expand current committee structure to include education and implements a speaker series on topics of their choosing
  • Being implementation of training and programs
  • Secondary needs assessment and program evaluations will be conducted
