A Faith Community GYM: Guiding Youth Movement for Sustained Healthy Futures

This project is funded in part by the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program, a component of the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin endowment at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The purpose of the GYM project is to develop and pilot a framework for increasing and sustaining youth physical activity and health career choices within a faith community in inner-city Milwaukee.  This innovative project (a) trains health advocates to lead physical activity and nutrition programs for at-risk youth, and (b) develops organizational structures within the church community to promote health sustaining activity and career choices, including the establishment of a health and health careers board.
