HealthLink Website and Newsletter

HealthLink was an online consumer health resources dedicated to providing consumers with accurate, reliable health information.

From 1998-2009, the HealthLink website provided current medical information in straightforward language that explains complex health issues in clear terms.

The goals of HealthLink were:

* To promote the health and well-being of our community.
* To empower patients with accurate, timely, impartial and authoritative medical information.
* To strengthen the sense of community among our patients and physicians.

HealthLink featured interviews with members of the renowned Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin clinical staff, timely consumer health articles on topics ranging from injury prevention to new surgical techniques, updates on current Medical College of Wisconsin research, program descriptions, and medical advice from our faculty physicians.

Nearly 3 million individual users per year visited the HealthLink website.

In addition to the HealthLink website, more than 33,000 people subscribed to HealthLink's e-mail newsletter, which was sent free of charge to subscribers on the 1st and 15th of each month.

The Office of Clinical Informatics also published a paper newsletter, HealthLink Quarterly, which was distributed four times per year to patient waiting areas throughout the campus.

According to Dr. Rick Gillis, Medical Director of the Office of Clinical Informatics, "The academic, research and hospital facilities at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert are among the best in the nation. HealthLink helps us to convey that message to thousands of readers every day."

"Our HealthLink publications helped us to spread the word about the excellence of our staff and campus," says Dr. Gillis. "They truly reflect the outstanding quality of our work."
