CTSI Announces Central Collaboratory

Sept. 23 - The Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), an NIH-funded academic consortium committed to Advancing Health through Research and Discovery, announces the Central Collaboratory 2016 event, being held on Thursday, October 6th, 2016 at the Pfister Hotel.

Paralyzed man regains functional use of arms and hands after experimental stem cell therapy at MCW

Sept. 22 - A 22-year-old quadriplegic patient who lost the ability to move his limbs below the neck and upper arms because of a severe spinal cord injury has regained functional use of his fingers and lower arms under the care of Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) physicians and researchers. The patient’s care involved an injection of an experimental treatment called AST-OPC1, which is made from stem cells, into the damaged cervical spinal cord of the patient as part of a multi-center clinical trial.
