Evaluation of Head & Neck Cancer


Evaluation always includes:
  • Comprehensive patient interview
  • Clinical examination
  • Exploration of the patient's needs and goals
Evaluation may include:
  • Videofluoroscopy or Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) to assess swallowing function
  • Endoscopy or videostroboscopy to evaluate the structure and function of the laryngeal musculature
  • Surface electromyography (sEMG) to measure muscle activity
  • Acoustic analysis to objectively measure voice quality
  • Aerodynamic analysis to measure air flow and resistance
