Two small pilot projects were awarded by the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) to the Pulmonary Group directed by Dr. Elizabeth Jacobs, a primary Faculty of the CVC.
Dr. David Zhang was awarded a 5-year NIH grant entitled “TRP channels in regulation of vascular tone”. This grant is designed to study a novel signaling mechanism by which shear stress, a mechanical force generated by blood flow, causes blood vessel dilation in humans.
National Institutes of Health Director, Francis S. Collins announced on Tuesday, September 20 that Aron Geurts, PhD, Assistant Professor of Physiology and faculty member in the HMGC has been named a 2011 NIH Director’s New Innovator Award recipient.
