Steve Cullen Healthy Heart Run/Walk to benefit Medical College Cardiovascular Center

Steve Cullen Healthy Heart Run/Walk logoJan. 2008 CVC UPBEAT - In its continuing commitment to support life-saving heart research, the 12th annual Steve Cullen Healthy Heart Run & Walk will take place on Sat., Feb. 9, at Wil-O-Way Underwood Clubhouse, 10602 Underwood Parkway in Wauwatosa. All proceeds directly benefit heart disease research at the Medical College of Wisconsin Cardiovascular Center.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. for the 10 a.m. race, organized by the Cullen family and the Badgerland Striders. The event includes an 8K USATF-certified run and a two-mile walk or fun run in memory of former Milwaukee Alderman and Badgerland Strider, Steve Cullen.

Registration is $17 for individuals and $50 for families of four until Feb. 1, with a fee of $17 for each additional family member. After Feb. 1, the individual fee is $20, the fee for families of four is $60 and the fee for additional family members is $20. New this year will be team competition. Teams of five or more walkers or runners can compete for prizes in one of two categories. 

The Cullen Run/Walk Biggest Heart trophy will go to the team that raises the most money for heart research, and the Cullen Run/Walk Fleetest Feet trophy will go to the fastest 8K team, determined by the team's top five 8-k runners.

As in past years, event participants can enjoy Cullen Family & Friends Chili after the run, with entertainment by a live band. Medals will be awarded for the top three 8K runners in 15 age groups, and trophies will be awarded for the overall male and female run winners.
