About the Forum

First held in 1980, The Forum for Behavioral Science in Family Medicine has continuously served to stimulate the integration and advancement of behavioral science in family medicine. The Forum has always placed a high value on networking between behavioral scientists and family physicians, professional development, and the integration of behavioral science in the family medicine curriculum. From its inception, The Forum has provided a wide range of presentations focused on methods for teaching the behavioral sciences, sessions on personal awareness and professional development and an expectation for interaction between presenters and participants. The program now includes a clinical track to develop the clinical skills and knowledge of behavioral scientists and family physicians.
In 2007, The Forum received a record number of submissions resulting in over 70 presentations. Attendance also reached an all time high. The majority of presentations were co-presented by physician and behavioral scientist collaborators. The success of The Forum reflects the impressive progress behavioral scientists and family physicians have made in their efforts to make behavioral science core to medical education.
