CURE stands for Coordinated / Core Units in Residency Education. It is a series of case conferences and lectures for family medicine residents by family medicine physicians and faculty. CURE Conferences resulted from the department's need to strengthen core competencies required by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Participants in CURE Conferences will gain skills in professionalism, demonstrate competence in evidence-based approaches to patient care, and acquire skills to work within and transform health care systems.
The CURE Conference Series is required for our Family Medicine residents. It is held at the Curative Building in the Family and Community Medicine classroom. All family medicine faculty members and professional staff are invited to attend and participate.
There are seven monthly conferences using cases, hands-on, interactive approach with lectures/discussions linked to a case that is evidence-based along with a little competition and fun. There is an End-of-Year project that is due in May. In November you will identify a topic (e.g., QI chart review) aligned with RP interests. Because there is no CURE session in March you will work on your project as a team to help move the project along to completion.
The schedule for CURE conferences is shown in the table below. Always call to get last minute updates if needed. Heather Lotz (414-456-4622) and Jeff Morzinski PhD (414-456-4985) coordinate the CURE series. You can e-mail Heather at hlotz@mcw.edu
