Ryan Spellecy, PhD

Assistant Professor of Bioethics and Psychiatry

Dr. Spellecy is Assistant Professor of Bioethics and Psychiatry in the Center for the Study of Bioethics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he teaches in the Bioethics Master of Arts program. He received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Utah. In addition to teaching, Professor Spellecy is also the clinical ethics consultant at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI; is chair of an Institutional Review Board at Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital; and serves on several local hospital ethics committees, including the committee at the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division. Professor Spellecy's publications, teaching, and research focus on ethical issues in mental illness and mental health, death and dying, the intersection of ancient Greek philosophy and modern debates in bioethics, and research ethics and integrity.
