Brian D. Stemper, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He graduated with a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in May 2004. His areas of research include traumatic biomechanics of the head and neck with particular emphasis on the investigation of whiplash trauma using experimental and computer modeling techniques. Dr. Stemper has given over 28 invited lectures and briefings and published over 16 peer-reviewed journal articles. He currently serves in advisory roles for the Rocky Mountain Bioengineering Symposium, Inc., and ASME, and is an active member of CSRS, AAAM, ASME, and SAE. He received the Best Paper by a Young Investigator Award at the 2004 International Research Council on the Biomechanics of Impact (IRCOBI) Conference in Graz, Austria, in 2004. Dr. Stemper was the sole recipient of the award. His research is conducted at the Neuroscience Research Laboratories at the Zablocki VA Medical Center.
