Nationally Recognized
Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Neurosurgery physicians are nationally recognized for their treatment of spinal cord injuries, as well as their approach to cerebrovascular disorders, brain tumors and other neoplasms of the nervous system.
The department is staffed by one of the most experienced surgical teams in the Midwest, offering surgical specialization in spine surgery, brain tumors, pediatric neurosurgery, cerebrovascular disorders, movement disorders (Parkinson's Disease) and seizure disorders. The department is at the surgical forefront in applying recently developed procedures in stereotaxis, pain management and epidural and infusion techniques.
The department's 13 neurosurgeons are affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin. Last year, they performed more than 2,518 operative cases at three local hospitals. The majority of these surgical cases were in the specialized areas of brain tumors, complex spine, epilepsy, cerebrovascular disorders, head trauma and movement disorders. The staff neurosurgeons work with neurologists, neuroimaging specialists, radiation oncologists and neuroradiologists to develop a comprehensive plan of care for patients.
