Milwaukee Regional Medical Center

The Medical College of Wisconsin has clustered basic science and clinical learning experiences in a modern academic medical center.  Several health care organizations share the beautiful park-like campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center with The Medical College.  Most of the physicians practicing at The Medical College's major teaching hospitals are full-time faculty members at The Medical College of Wisconsin.
 

Froedtert Hospital

A 330-bed private, not-for-profit hospital, Froedtert is the Medical College of Wisconsin's primary teaching affiliate.  At Froedtert, centers of excellence include: Cancer Center, Cardiovascular Center, Communications Disorder Center, Digestive Disease Center, Emergency Center, Eye Institute, Musculoskeletal Center, Neurosciences Center, Primary Care, Transplant Center, Trauma Center and Women's Health. 

Froedtert is the only Level I Trauma Center in Eastern Wisconsin.  Froedtert was named as one of the "50 Best Hospitals" in the country for Digestive Diseases, Orthopedics, and Kidney Disease by U.S. News & World Report.  It was the first hospital in Wisconsin to perform a liver transplant. 

 

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is a private, independent, not-for-profit regional pediatric medical center.  It is the only hospital in Wisconsin dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children.  It also serves as the only pediatric trauma center in the state and is one of only fourteen Level I Trauma Centers in the United States.  Founded in 1894, Children's Hospital serves children with all types of illnesses, injuries, birth defects and other disorders.

Children's Hospital treats thousands of children annually.  During 2004, 28,875 infants, children and adolescents were admitted and 234,483 were seen in the hospital's specialty outpatient clinics.  The Emergency Department/Trauma Center treated 43,783 children and 13,097 surgical procedures were performed.

Children's Hospital houses seven inpatient units, including a 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 22-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 24-bed Hematology / Oncology / Transplant Unit, a 28-bed Short Stay Unit, and the Emergency Department/Trauma Center.  The hospital also has more than 70 specialty clinics.
 

BloodCenter of Wisconsin

The Blood Center, headquarters in Milwaukee, is a non-profit, transfusion medicine organization providing blood products and services to the nation's hospitals and a critical global resource for diagnostic laboratory testing, medical services, and blood research.

The Blood Center's Blood Research Institute opened in 1991 on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus.  The Institute's investigations focus on achieving new understanding and improving the diagnosis and management of blood diseases.  Current areas of focus include blood-related disorders such as heart disease, cancer, hemophilia, and also study various aspects of the immune system.

 

One of the largest, accredited, experienced and comprehensive rehabilitation facilities in the nation, Curative provides services for children and adults in medical, vocational, developmentally disabled and mental health programs.  Curative offers programs and services at 10 locations to more than 7,000 people a year.

Off-Campus Affiliations

Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center

The VA Medical Center is one of the Medical College of Wisconsin's major affiliated teaching hospitals.  With 182 acute care hospital beds, it is one of the busiest, most comprehensive centers operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  It is located four miles from the College on a park-like campus.

Most physicians practicing at the VA Medical Center are full-time faculty members of the Medical College of Wisconsin.  The medical center provides health care to over 35,000 veterans in eastern and central Wisconsin.
 

United Hospital System

In 1998, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin formed a regional alliance with United Hospital System.  As part of the alliance, College faculty physicians staff some specialty clinics at Kenosha Medical Center and St. Catherine's Medical Center Campuses.
