T. Michael Bolger, JD
T. Michael Bolger, JD, President and CEO of the Medical College of Wisconsin, has a distinguished career of community service to Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin. Since assuming the presidency of the Medical College in 1990, he has led the 109-year-old institution through a period of unprecedented growth in research, patient care activity, and the expansion of both its academic programs and outreach efforts in the community.
As a civic leader, Bolger is credited with leading the campaign for Milwaukee's $100 million theater district project, a campaign that has symbolized a development renaissance in the city.
His civic honors include Marquette University's Alumnus of the Year, the Milwaukee Press Club's Headliner of the Year Award, the Frank Kirkpatrick Award of the Milwaukee Foundation, the "Spirit of Milwaukee" Award from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Civic Alliance, and Alverno College's Telesis Award. He has been honored by the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians, the Advocates for Retarded Citizens, and the National Conference of Christians and Jews.
He currently serves on the boards of directors of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, the Better Business Bureau, the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation, Partners Advancing Values in Education (PAVE), the Milwaukee Science Education Consortium, the Milwaukee County Research Park Board, the University Club, and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
A native of Minoqua, Bolger received his undergraduate degree in philosophy from Marquette University. He earned his MA and PhL. degrees in Philosophy from St. Louis University and his JD degree with honors from Northwestern University Law School.
Prior to his appointment at the Medical College of Wisconsin, he was a partner in the law firm of Quarles & Brady where he was recognized as a national authority on health care law.
