Peggy Hintzman

Peggy Hintzman, Associate Director of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, is immediate past president of the Wisconsin Public Health Association. As a statewide advocate for public health, she has contributed vision and leadership to several initiatives focused on improving the quality of health throughout Wisconsin.

As President of the Wisconsin Public Health Association, Hintzman organized and planned "Health Summit 2000", a conference focused on improving the health of Wisconsin's communities for future generations. She was chosen as one of three strategic planners charged with developing and implementing Wisconsin's "Turning Point Initiative," the state's health plan, as well as helping restructure Wisconsin's Public Health Advisory Committee.

She recently served as project director for a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant that will provide a national model for public health statutes.

Hintzman has over 20 years experience in public health and carries with her a strong connection to the public health community. As President of the Wisconsin Public Health Association, her leadership was noted for her commitment to build working relationships between the medical and public health communities.

Hintzman received her undergraduate degree from Wisconsin State University – Eau Claire (now University of Wisconsin Eau Claire) and her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin Madison. She is currently project director for a Model Public Health Law Collaborative, and has served as a board member for Smoke Free Wisconsin and a facilitator and co-author of Wisconsin's Tuberculosis Strategic Plan.

She is currently working with a statewide group to develop Wisconsin's strategic plan for hepatitis and is co-leading the Information Technology Advisory Committee for Wisconsin's bioterrorism preparedness planning grant.
