Clinical Research

Our institution is at the forefront of cancer research and we offer the opportunity to participate in clinical studies with the latest in treatment options.  These are often treatments which are not yet available outside of the study setting.  The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Radiation Oncology is a member of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) which is sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI).  Patients who choose to participate become part of a network of clinical trials carried out at Cancer Centers throughout the country.  We also have studies that are developed and/or managed by our own physicians.

  • Significant involvement in (RTOG)
    • Full member since 1979
    • One of the top accruers
    • Study chairs, PIs, and other leading roles in many RTOG trials (prostate, lung, CNS, head and neck, GYN, breast)
    • Currently participating in 35 RTOG trials at present time
      • Involved in approximately 55 clinical trials (national, industrial sponsored, and in-house)
      • Strong relationship with radiology, surgical oncology, and medical oncology

If you are interested in finding out what studies are available for treatment of patients with your type of cancer, ask your physician for further information or call (414) 805-4377.
