Educational Leadership for the Health of the Public

From the Desk of the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Kenneth B. Simons, MDImprovements in health are achieved through a highly trained workforce of health care providers and a well educated public. The education of health providers and the community is a dynamic process that must respond to ever changing health challenges.

The Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment permits the Medical College of Wisconsin to leverage academic expertise and resources to promote education and training opportunities which advance the status of human health. Programs targeting clinical skills development for medical students, residents and faculty, student scholarships, educational outreach through continuing medical education, curriculum development and faculty professional development are funding priorities.

Our mission recognizes that the pursuit and transfer of knowledge must be shared with the public through strong patient education initiatives like the HealthLink internet data resource and companion newsletter, which promotes the health and well-being of the community. We remain committed to encouraging public education initiatives as a focal point of the endowment going forward.

Sincerely,

Kenneth B. Simons, MD
Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Professor of Ophthalmology and Pathology
