Inhalants
Substances found in more than 1000 common household products. These extremely volatile solvents can be sniffed or “huffed” directly from open containers or rags soaked in the substance and held to the face. Once inhaled, the capillary surface of the lungs allows rapid absorption and blood levels peak rapidly. Entry into the brain is so rapid that effects of inhalation can resemble the intensity of effects produced by intravenous injection of other psychoactive drugs.
