Research Application Process Flowchart

The flowchart below provides a quick guide to the Radiation Safety Committee research application process:

(If this flowchart doesn't fit your needs, please contact the RSO.)

Non-Clinical Research

  • Research use involves radiation produced by machines (x-ray, CT, linear accelerator) or radioactive material (isotopes, nuclear medicine, sealed sources).

Radioactive Material (Isotopes, Radionuclides, Irradiators)

Unsealed Radioactive Material (liquid, gas or powder)

Is research being done under a current Authorized User?

YES - (choose from below)
Amendment Form for minor changes (possession limit, new area, etc.)

RAM Use Worksheet for Grants & Contracts Research Checklist

NO

Application for Use of Radioactive Materials in Research

Sealed Sources (encapsulated or plated sources)

New sealed source - Application for Use of Radioactive Materials in Research

Use of existing MCW Irradiator Facility - Irradiator Use Application (contact RSO for form)

Radiation Machines (X-Ray, X-Ray Diffraction, CT, Orthovoltage)

New Facility - Application for Analytical X-Ray

Existing Facility - Submit staff training information, contact RSO
