Jiangyue Zhang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He graduated with a PhD in Solid Mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, Anhui, China, in December 2000.
Dr. Zhang's prior research interests were mechanical response and failure of non-biological structures and rate dependent properties of materials under impact loading. Dr. Zhang's prior experience includes 12 years of continuous research and study in impact mechanics at USTC and collaboration with national laboratories in China.
Dr. Zhang joined MCW as a postdoctoral fellow in July 2001. He specializes in the multi-disciplinary fields of brain injury biomechanics, impact mechanics and numerical analysis. His research interests include pediatric and adult brain injury from traumatic events.
Dr. Zhang has published over 40 scientific articles and presented his research findings at national and international conferences and symposia, including International Research Council on the Biomechanics of Impacts, Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine, National Neurotrauma Society, and American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
