Conferences
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine offers a variety of conferences, which all physicians, fellows, residents, students and staff are invited to attend, unless otherwise specified. All conferences run from September 1 through June 30. Conferences are held at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, unless otherwise specified.
Cardiovascular Medicine Grand Rounds: This is a weekly cardiovascular conference (Tuesdays from 5:00 – 6:00 pm), which uses a multiple of formats including case conferences, invited speakers, and presentations of active cardiovascular research being performed at the Medical College.
EP Conference: A weekly teaching conference (Mondays from 7:00 – 8:00 am) to discuss electrophysiology cases, procedures and current literature. This conference is held at the Zablocki VA Medical Center.
Echo Conference: A biweekly teaching conference (every other Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:00 am) to review interesting echocardiograms, cases in which the echo was instrumental in the management of the patient, etc.
Cath Conference: A biweekly teaching conference (every other Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:00 am) with a revolving didactic curriculum and interesting case review to enhance the invasive and interventional base of the fellow.
CVRC Research Seminar: This is an ongoing 60-minute research seminar that meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Cardiovascular Research Center.
Core Cardiology Curriculum for fellows: This occurs twice per month (Thursdays from 7:00 – 8:00 am) and reviews key articles attempting to cover all of the important areas of cardiology over a 3-year cycle. This serves not only as a mechanism for board review but also concentrates on mechanism of performing a critical review of these journal articles by the fellows. The articles are chosen by the responsible faculty member and assigned to individual fellows on a rotational basis. Usually 3 articles are reviewed.
Journal Club for fellows: This is a more informal conference meeting once monthly (Thursdays from 7:00 – 8:00 am) to pick out and review key articles in that month's Circulation, JACC, and The New England Journal of Medicine. A faculty member is present for the discussion.
