Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program

Automated External Defibrillators are located in select College areas, to assist trained responders with cardiac emergencies. Public Safety personnel are trained and certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of an AED.

AED units are stored in cabinets that activate a local alarm when opened.  The alarm is also linked directly to the Public Safety Center to allow for emergency response by Public Safety Officers. The AED in the STAR Center is designated a "Life Safety Center" and is integrated with an emergency phone, fire extinguisher and nearby surveillance camera.
