    Accelerated Review

The goal of the CTSI TRUs is to provide clinical research infrastructure for medical scientists who conduct patient-oriented research. Some protocols can by-pass much of the review process and undergo an Accelerated Review:

    1. Studies which have already undergone peer review by the NIH or other federally funded agencies and are funded, or approved and awaiting funding. The accelerated review process will afford studies which have already undergone stringent peer review the ability to circumvent the requirement of an additional scientific review. You will need to submit the full grant reviewed by the funding agency.
    2. Pharmacologic/industry clinical trial "D" protocols which already have IRB approval. The accelerated review process will facilitate conduct of pharmacologic clinical trials utilizing "D" beds, based upon daily availability. You will need to submit a copy of the industry protocol, including the budget.
    3. Core-specific protocols that utilize minimal TRU services, for investigators who only need one specific TRU service/core (excluding Nursing) to proceed.

If you would like to submit for CTSI TRU support a protocol which you believe meets one of these criteria, we urge you to contact Dr. Glenn Krakower (805-3802, gkrakowe@mcw.edu).
