Funding News

On December 9, 2003 the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tommy G. Thompson unveiled a single, comprehensive Web site that will contain information about finding and applying for all federal grant programs. Grants.gov encompasses over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies. It streamlines the process of awarding over $350 billion annually to state and local governments, academia, not-for-profits and other organizations.

The site provides information in a standardized format across agencies and includes a "Find Grant Opportunities" feature to help applicants find potential funding opportunities. The site also contains an "Apply for Grants" feature that greatly simplifies the application process by allowing applicants to download, complete and submit applications for specific grant opportunities from any federal grant-making agency

NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts (updated weekly)
The NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts serves as the official publication of NIH policies, procedures, and availability of funds. Occasionally, unofficial notices of interest to the scientific research community are published. The NIH considers applications for the support of basic or clinical biomedical, behavioral, and bioengineering research.

Grantsnet Newsletter (updated monthly)
GrantsNet is a searchable, continuously updated, database of funding opportunities in biomedical research and science education. It contains programs that offer training and research funding for graduate and medical students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty.

NIH Toolkit
The Toolkit groups together, in convenient chunks, the most pertinent articles on the topics that researchers worry about most.  Teaching, lab setup, hiring & firing and Grantsmanship.

American Legacy Grants
Grants made by the American Legacy Foundation will further its goal of creating tobacco-free generations. At the heart of Legacy's grant program is the effort to identify new and improved ways to develop effective tobacco control programs. It is widely accepted that to accomplish sustained behavior change in the United States requires more than a single national effort. Visit this area often to check for updated information on upcoming grants.
