Dr. Earnestine Willis received the 2008 Sacagawea Award from Professional Dimensions
Kellner Professor in Pediatrics and Director of the Center for the Advancement of Underserved Children, received the 2008 Sacagawea Award from Professional Dimensions, a networking organization for professional women. Professional Dimensions named the award after Sacagawea, the only woman on the Lewis and Clark expedition, to honor women in the Milwaukee community who, like her, distinguish themselves by power, spirit, insight, thoughtfulness, leadership, determination, courage and adaptability. Sacagawea, whose name means “bird woman,” proved to be incredibly valuable to the expedition, even given a full vote in deciding where to spend the winter. She was legendary for her perseverance and resourcefulness. The award was presented March 12 during a dinner at the Midwest Airlines Center. The other recipient was Gail Lione, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Harley-Davidson, Inc. Each recipient received a piece of original art commissioned by Professional Dimension from Rina Yoon, Associate Professor of Art at the Milwaukee Institute of Are and Design.
