The primary objective is to train a pediatrician in neonatal perinatal medicine so that he/she can function independently as a sub specialist in this field. At the end of the training the (fellow) trainee should have acquired enough training, expertise, and experience to pursue an academic or clinical career. Three basic necessities emphasized for this training program are clinical care, research, and teaching. Each of these components is given equal importance during the three years of training.
