Dr. Colin Rudolph appointed Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Pediatrics

April 17, 2008 College News - Colin D. Rudolph, MD, PhD, has been appointed Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Pediatrics by Robert M. Kliegman, MD, Chairman and Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Rudolph is Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Medical College and Medical Director of Gastroenterology at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

In his new position, Dr. Rudolph will oversee all aspects of clinical programs on and off-campus involving the Department of Pediatrics. This includes clinical program development and the performance of existing clinical programs. Dr. Rudolph is now the point faculty member for these activities for the Department of Pediatrics, and together with Tom Malin, Department Administrator of Pediatrics, will provide leadership in all clinically related areas.

In this new role, his specific duties include:
  • In conjunction with the Section Chiefs, serve as the leader for all strategic clinical planning decisions within the department
  • Represent the Department of Pediatrics as needed for planning and operational decisions regarding clinical activities at the main campus and metro and regional sites
  • Partner with the department administrator and the Pediatric department Section Chiefs, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the Children’s Specialty Group to develop systems that will promote improved clinical care and operational efficiencies
  • Provide mentoring and support for Department of Pediatrics clinical leaders in coordination with new program developments.

Dr. Rudolph joined the College in 2001. He received his MD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, and his PhD from the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Children’s Hospital in Boston, and a fellowship at the University of California-San Francisco Medical Center.
