Women's Health Senior Selective: 316-419

Description - Required Integrated Selective

This selective is designed for the student who desires a more intensive experience in women's health than what is provided in the third year clerkships. This will be a multidisciplinary selective which also includes multiple levels of health care providers. Students will choose from multiple tracks to individualize their rotation to meet their needs and interests. Examples of tracks include: family planning and abortion, infertility, genetics, radiology, infectious disease, geriatrics/menopause.

Selective Goals

  • Obtain an understanding of the issues in comprehensive women's health care
  • Describe the normal health issues unique to women.
  • Describe the effect of gender on general disease processes.
  • Describe the disease processes unique to women.
  • Acquire a gender-specific approach to the clinical evaluation and management of women.
  • Conduct a sexual history.

Learning Activities

  • Self directed learning through provided reading.
  • Daily clinic responsibilities/observation.
  • Evidence based presentation.
