The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin is a progressive academic radiation oncology practice comprised of 16 faculty members. Services are provided by 12 radiation oncologists and 10 physicists at four clinical sites, including Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee (the main campus); Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls; St. Catherine's Hospital, Kenosha; and Zablocki Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Milwaukee. Approximately 1,800 patients are treated annually. Equipment includes 7 Siemens linear accelerators, including 5 Primus units; conventional and CT simulators; LANTIS/IMPAC/Primeview record and verify systems; Nucletron HDR system; CMS FOCUS treatment planning system with IMRT; NOMOS CORVUS IMRT planning system; Gamma Knife; Tomotherapy; and an orthovoltage unit. Services associated with vascular brachytherapy, prostate seed implants, low dose-rate and high dose-rate brachytherapy, as well as total body irradiation for bone marrow transplantation are provided. Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is currently in use and Tomotherapy will be available beginning in August 2004.
