Dr. Raasch joined the department in 1992 after completing a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1992.
A native Milwaukeean, Dr. Raasch graduated from Marquette University magna cum laude in 1981 with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering and a minor in chemistry. He received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Chicago in 1986. At the University of Chicago hospitals, Dr. Raasch served an internship in general surgery from 1986 to 1987 and a residency in orthopaedic surgery from 1987 to 1991. He received the Zimmer Fourth Annual Travel Award from the American Orthopaedic Society in 1991.
Dr. Raasch is the director of the Sports Medicine Division and a member of the admissions committee for the Medical College of Wisconsin. He also serves as head team physician for the Milwaukee Mustangs (professional arena football), company physician for the Milwaukee Ballet Company, team physician for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and team physician for Wisconsin Lutheran High School.
Dr. Raasch is the recipient of the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association's 1996-97 Traveling Fellowship. His previous experience in sports medicine includes positions as assistant team physician for the Cleveland Browns from 1991-1992, NCAA Division I Cleveland State University, NCAA Division II University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and NCAA Division III John Carroll College in Beachwood, Ohio.
His clinical interests include arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle, and hip. His research interests include musculoskeletal biomechanics in the athlete.
