Research
The Department of Emergency Medicine has an active,
collaborative research program, with numerous opportunities
for clinical, epidemiologic, translational, and bench research
projects. Our department is dedicated to improving emergency
care through research. We have extensive federally funded
research activities and our faculty has published extensively.
Three faculty members are Principal and Co-Principle
Investigators of NIH and CDC funded multidisciplinary Centers
at MCW. We were ranked 9th for NIH funding in Emergency
Medicine in 2005.
We provide research training for medical students, residents,
and faculty. We have research mentors available to assist students
and residents, as well as outside community groups interested in
emergency care and public and community health projects. We hold
an annual Emergency Medicine Research Forum, co-sponsored with
the Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, which highlights faculty, fellow, and resident scholarly activity projects as well as showcasing
the work of local and regional emergency medicine research projects.
As our research program grows we have numerous opportunities for those interested in emergency medicine research. Those opportunities are
highlighted on this site but if you would like additional information please contact us.
