The Medical College is located at 8701 Watertown Plank Road in Wauwatosa, a suburb of Milwaukee. With a fine harbor on Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is a world port and is the nation's eighteenth largest city. Recreational facilities in the area are excellent for fishing, boating, hunting, golfing and winter sports. There are 22 square miles of parks and beaches in Milwaukee County, and, with 163 inland lakes within an hour's drive, the city is the gateway to the popular vacationlands and lake resorts of northern Wisconsin. The yearly schedule of cultural events is suited to all tastes in music, art, and theater. Cultural facilities reflect these varied interests and include one of the most modern science and natural history museums in the world; the Memorial Center, which houses the Milwaukee Art Museum; and the Marcus Center for Performing Arts, which houses the Milwaukee Symphony, Milwaukee Ballet, Florentine Opera, and other performing groups. Professional baseball, soccer, basketball, and hockey are available for the sports enthusiast. The city combines the best of the old-world tradition with the vigor and progressiveness of the new.
