Publications and Services

Staff members of the Office of Public Affairs offer these services and publications for both public and employee audiences of the Medical College of Wisconsin:

  • News Releases – News stories about patient care and research activities of Medical College physicians and scientists are offered daily to news organization throughout Wisconsin and nationwide.
  • Facts 2008 – Information and statistics about the Medical College and its activities are published annually in a compact form for easy reference. Included is a map showing patient care services the College faculty and staff provide around the state of Wisconsin, the number of alumni practicing in each state county, the number of patients who come from each county and the number of students from each county.
  • College NewsCollege News features stories about the scientific and health care work of the Medical College's research and physician faculty. It is posted on internal infoscope.
  • Alumni News – This magazine is published Fall, Winter and Summer for all Medical College of Wisconsin / Marquette medical, graduate, medical residents and alumni.
  • – Each fiscal year, the Medical College showcases its strengths and how its educational, research, community service and patient care programs help people. The print version of the report includes an extensive honor roll of donors, and includes the College's annual financial report. The Annual Report is published in November.   • Cancer Center News – Monthly newsletter for faculty and staff featuring news and information about research and clinical care programs in the Medical College's Cancer Center.
  • MCW News – This newsletter, published in Fall, Winter and Spring, recognizes and thanks major donors and shows how gifts and grants to the Medical College are effectively used.
  • Logo Standards – Public Affairs provides direction on the appropriate use of the Medical College's logos and has electronic files of all logos – Corporate, Froedtert & Medical College, Medical College Physicians and Children's Specialty Group – available upon request for print or Web use.
  • Photos – An electronic library of Medical College feature photos is maintained by Public Affairs. Images are available upon request for print and Web use.
  • Student Recruitment – Public Affairs oversees the production of the Medical School course bulletin and viewbook, the Graduate School bulletin and viewbook, and other recruitment publications as needed. (See: Medical School Academic Affairs and Graduate School for information)
  • Commencement – A comprehensive commencement booklet with brief biographical descriptions of each graduate and honorary degree recipients, as well as other awards and honors given, is published in May.
  • Special Events – The Special Events Coordinator, in the Office of Public Affairs, coordinates special events, including commencement activities, employee service awards, the first year medical student reception, convocation, tours, employee fund drives, and provides consultation for departmental events.
  • Faculty Appointment Announcements – Special mailings of booklets with biographical information about new department chairmen and deans, written by Public Affairs staff, is distributed to their peers nationally, community physicians, alumni in their specialty and others.
  • College Phone Book – Each year, a printed phone book of faculty and staff is published.
  • Web Site – Public Affairs, with guidance from the Medical College Web Council, works with College Libraries staff in overseeing the design and maintenance of the College's Web site and related hardware and software.
  • Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program – Public Affairs provides support services to the MCW Consortium on Public and Community Health, which serves as an advisory committee on the expenditure of funds made available from the Blue Cross stock conversion plan.
