- Research Implementation Groups (RIGs)
- The Research Implementation Groups were developed as a unique opportunity to enhance research in the Department of Family & Community Medicine. The RIG members are faculty and non-faculty individuals who share a sincere interest in a focused but ever-broadening research topic that will ultimately lead to publication and extramural funding. The RIGs meet regularly, and with self-imposed deadlines and shared responsibilities, the members keep research as an important priority in relation to other responsibilities. Each RIG leader reports on the group's progress to the Core Research Group on a regular basis

- Student Summer Research Program
- Through the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, medical students are matched with a Family Medicine Department faculty member mentor to initiate, continue, or complete a research project of mutual interest. Various sources of funding are available on a competitive basis for these 8, 10, or 12 week summer research fellowships. This summer research program culminates with a student research forum and poster presentation in early fall.
