Yuri Amirkhanian, PhD, defended his PhD dissertation on the theme Risky Sexual Behavior: Social Diagnostics and Prevention at St. Petersburg State University, Russia.
Dr. Amirkhanian has been involved in HIV prevention research since 1993. He has conducted sociological research among various social and demographic groups in Russia. His research has focused on the influence of social and psychological factors on sexual behavior and on developing AIDS-prevention strategies for teenagers, young adults, and men who have sex with men.
