Laura R. Glasman, PhD
Assistant Professor
lglasman@mcw.edu
Dr. Glasman's research focuses on the motivational and cognitive processes involved in changing HIV related behaviors in different contexts and populations. She has conducted research on the effect of HIV-related interpersonal interactions on women's safer sexual behaviors, the motivational and behavioral conditions that inhibit people's exposure to HIV-related information, and the efficacy of HIV prevention communications. Dr. Glasman also has a strong interest in applying meta-analytical methods to the understanding of the factors that induce people to change their health behaviors. In this regard, she has conducted meta-analytical work to observe how people form attitudes that later influence their health behaviors, and she has also collaborated on several other meta-analyses, involving topics such as the efficacy of different HIV prevention strategies among diverse populations and settings, and the factors associated with participation and retention in HIV education programs.
