Associate Professor of Medicine

Patient Care Emphases (Ages 18+):

Kidney stones.

Research interest is focused primarily on kidney stone disease. This research involves characterizing the influence of specific urinary macromolecules on crystallization kinetics, and expanding it to parallel programs in patient based studies of specific inhibitory defects exhibited by urinary macromolecules from stone formers and in basic science studies of the specific chemical groups responsible for critical interactions at calcium oxalate crystal surfaces. He has helped focus the clinical care of stone disease through the opening of a clinic specifically targeted at stone forming patients.
