Hospitals
A resident's time is primarily spent at the major university teaching hospital, Froedtert Hospital, which is located on the campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (MRMC). Froedtert Hospital is a component of a large medical center including the MCW East and West Clinics, the Clinical Cancer Center, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, the MCW Eye Institute, the Curative Rehabilitation Hospital, the Southeastern Wisconsin Blood Research Institute, and the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex. The Medical College of Wisconsin,
a private medical college with 800 undergraduate medical students, is located on the campus of the MRMC. Throughout the three-year residency, approximately 60% of an individual resident's time is spent on the main medical center campus. About 30% of a resident's inpatient and ambulatory training occurs at the Zablocki Veterans' Administration Medical Center, a major tertiary referral center of the VA system.

To further balance our program, 10% of a resident's training occurs at St. Joseph's Hospital, a large active community hospital in Milwaukee. Each of these training sites are in close proximity to the MRMC.
The faculty of the Department of Medicine have created for our residents a curriculum which emphasizes graded responsibility while maintaining close faculty interaction. Education is emphasized over patient service needs in a collaborative collegial relationship between faculty and residents. We are justifiably proud of our training program. We welcome your interest, and look forward to the opportunity to tell you more about our residency program.
