CD #2: Mr. Clarence Malone (2004)

A 70-year-old white male who presents for general medical care. He admits to feelings of depression and reports he is dissatisfied with life.

CD #3: Mrs. Violetta Mitsuko Tang (2004)

A 65-year-old Japanese female who has hypertension, mild hypothyroidism, and osteoporosis.

CD #4: Mr. Fred Clifford (2007)

This CD focuses on medical errors and contains 14 tools that begin with the initial call to the clinic from the patient's wife, to admittance to the ER, a 2-day hospital stay, discharge, and followup 1 week later.

Our goal is to create teaching and assessment tools (OSVEs) that enhance residency program educator's ability to meet the ACGME standards.

We currently have three (3) completed OSVE Toolkits.  Each individual tool was developed to address 2 or more of the ACGME six core competencies.  Each toolkit contains > 20 video triggers and associated components, including an instructor guide, assessment tool, video trigger, and scoring key for each.

To view an example of our Mr. Malone OSVE Toolkit, "Tool #2 - Previsit Discussion With Student", click on any of the terms below (e.g. Instructor Guide).

  • Includes a brief description of the associated video trigger, listing of ACGME competencies the tool addresses, tool objectives, and instructions.

  • Includes a brief description of the associated video trigger (gives the resident an idea of what he/she is about to view) and related questions (e.g., short-answer, true/false, MCQ, checklist).

  • Video Trigger
Each trigger is 1.5-3 minutes in length.  These are great discussion generators -- easy to insert in PowerPoint presentations.  Please note, the video trigger may take a few seconds to download in order to preview.

  • Scoring Key
Includes correct answers and associated point value system.

Each OSVE tool takes approximately 10 minutes to complete with an additional 10 minutes to score.   Implementation strategies include: morning report, noon conference, grand rounds, small group discussion.

Computer Requirements:

  • Pentium-based CPU running Windows 9x, ME, 2000, XP.  266mz with 64 megs of RAM and a 4 MB video card.  (Note: Windows Media Player 9 or higher is required to play the Guided Tour).

Required Software:

  • Quicktime 5 is required to view the video files.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the PDF files.

Each OSVE Toolkit: $20.00 each or 4 for $50.00.
