Securities may be given to the Medical College of Wisconsin. The donor will receive an acknowledgment for the gift for the value of the stock at the time it is transferred to the College. The value is based on the average per share value on the date of transfer times the number of shares. How to give a gift of securities.
Giving securities electronically
If you plan to transfer your securities electronically (through the depository trust company system), contact your broker with the name of the security, the number of shares and the date on which you would like the stock transferred to the Medical College of Wisconsin. Also give the following transfer information to your broker, as well as to the Medical College of Wisconsin Office of Development:

Giving Stock Certificates
If you do not transfer your stock electronically but plan to give actual security certificates, send them unendorsed to the Medical College of Wisconsin. In a separate envelope, send to the same address a signed stock power for each certificate along with a note giving your name, the name of the security and the total number of shares. Stock power forms can be obtained from the College's Office of Development, a brokerage firm or a bank.
Gifts of stock are tax deductible up to 30% of your adjusted gross income. You have an additional five years to carry over the undeducted portion.
In order to ensure proper acknowledgment and designation of your gift of securities, we encourage you to notify the College's office of development of your intent to make a gift of securities. Providing your name, name of securities, number of shares, and your designation will help to complete the process according to your wishes.
