Research staff have questioned the number of email notifications received for the eBridge Funding Proposals module used to submit applications to Grants & Contracts. The Funding Proposals module is designed for department flexibility, allowing an individual to have multiple roles. For example, a Primary Department Administrator (PDA) may also have a Budget Specialist (BS) role. Because the current eBridge application can only send an email to one individual at a time, if you have multiple roles, then you will receive an email that is sent to each role for a specific activity. This means you could receive several emails from the same activity.
The Funding Proposals email notifications are sent for two purposes: 1) requests for action, and 2) information only (to keep the research team informed for impeding sponsor and institutional deadlines).
With an eBridge upgrade coming at the end of 2010, email capability in the eBridge application will be enhanced. We expect that the duplicate emails you currently receive for a specific activity will be reduced to one email. Until then, it is recommended that each email you receive is reviewed to determine if it: 1) requires action, or 2) is informational. If you have any questions on what action you need to take, please contact the eBridge Help Desk, help-ebridge@mcw.edu.
