Summary:  The Perinatal Mortality Data File combines fetal and infant death data, with infant death data including a linkage to corresponding birth data. This linkage was done using a period format as opposed to the birth cohort format used in the Birth Cohort-Linked Birth/Infant Death Data Set. The period format is based on infant deaths occurring in a given year, regardless of whether the birth occurred in that same year or the previous year; the birth cohort format is based on deaths to infants born in a given year, regardless of whether the death occurred in that same year or in the following year. Contains data on infant and parental demographics, event occurrence and residence, hospital, pregnancy, delivery, and infant health.
