For 25 years, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin have been part of a critical initiative to improve the health of our community.

The hospital employs more than 1,400 registered nurses and is one of just 230 hospitals in the country to receive the prestigious Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. It serves as an eastern Wisconsin referral center for advanced medical practice care in 37 specialties and subspecialties.

It is a major training and research facility with more than 1,000 medical, nursing and health technical students in training and over 2,000 active clinical trials each year. Froedtert, part of Froedtert & Community Health, operates the region’s only adult Level One Trauma Center.

When Children's Hospital of Wisconsin opened its doors more than a century ago, it was the 16th pediatric hospital to be established in the United States.
 

Since then, it has evolved to become one of the nation's leading regional pediatric medical centers. It also is the state's only hospital devoted exclusively to the care and treatment of children.

Opened in 1988 to replace an aging complex of buildings, recent additions and renovations place it among the newest and best pediatrics facilities in the nation.

Children's Hospital is home to the largest regional pediatric program for the repair of congenital heart defects. Each year, close to 98% of Wisconsin children undergoing open heart surgery are treated here, with outstanding results.

The hospital also has a widely acclaimed 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit; a 22-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; a 22-bed Rehabilitation Unit; Wisconsin's only regional pediatric trauma referral center at the Emergency Department/Trauma Center; inpatient medical/surgical units; and more than 60 outpatient clinics and specialty centers.

Children's Transport, the hospital's specialized pediatric transport team, brings nearly 800 seriously ill and injured children each year from other hospitals throughout the region to Children's Hospital for care.

The Center for the Advancement of Urban Children is working in partnership with community based programs (such as Health Care for the Homeless and the Black Health Coalition) to better children's lives.
