Since 1980, Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin has been part of a critical initiative to improve the health of the community.  Together, Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin form the only academic medical center in eastern Wisconsin.  More than 1,000 physicians who practice at Froedtert Hospital are Medical College of Wisconsin faculty members who are among the top in their specialties and collaborate as teams to provide the highest level of care for patients.  They, along with more than 5,000 Froedtert staff offer patients a heightened level of expertise, knowledge and advanced care that only an academic medical center can provide. It serves as an eastern Wisconsin referral center for advanced medical practice care in 37 specialties and subspecialties.   It is a major training and research facility with over 2,000 active clinical trials each year.  Froedtert Hospital operates the region’s only adult Level One Trauma Center.

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is one of the nation’s top pediatric facilities.  It is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.  Founded in 1894, Children’s Hospital serves children with all types of illnesses, injuries, birth defects and other disorders.  Care is provided to children from Wisconsin, Michigan, northern Illinois and beyond.  Children’s is a private, independent, not-for-profit hospital and is a major teaching affiliate of the Medical College of Wisconsin.  Children’s Hospital is one of the busiest pediatric hospitals in the Nation. 

Children’s Research Institute, a part of Children’s Hospital advances state-of-the art pediatric health care practice through dedicated laboratory and clinical research.  Based on the concept of translational research, the institute is designed to take clinical problems from the patient bedside to study in the laboratory.  Laboratory discoveries are then converted into new treatments, preventions, therapies and cures for patients.

The Clement J. For more than 130 years, Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus has been offering compassionate, expert health care and is dedicated to providing a lifetime of care for a variety of health care needs.  St. Joseph’s is an academic, referral, tertiary level care facility providing acute and sub-acute care. 

With more than 80,000 visits a year, the St. Joseph Campus Emergency Department is trained and prepared to address the most critical cases – especially those that arise during the “Golden Hour” – the first 60 minutes in which a medical emergency presents itself.  St. Joseph Campus is a licensed, certified Level III trauma center, providing life-saving emergency care as recognized by the State of Wisconsin.  St. Joseph’s provides assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and emergency surgery and can arrange transfer to a level I or II trauma center for surgical and intensive care as needed.
