The Department of Emergency Medicine has an active, collaborative research program with numerous opportunities for clinical, epidemiologic, translational, and bench research projects. Our department is dedicated to improving emergency care through research. We have robust federally funded research activities and our faculty are published extensively. Our Department hosts three NIH and CDC funded research centers including the Resuscitation Research Center, Neurological Emergency Treatment Trials, and the Injury Research Center, and is engaged in several federally funded multi-center studies.

We provide research training for medical students, residents and faculty. Research mentors are available to assist students and residents as well as outside community groups interested in emergency care and public and community health projects. The Department hosts an annual Emergency Medicine Research Forum, co-sponsored with the Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, which highlights faculty, fellow, and resident scholarly activity projects in addition to showcasing the work of local and regional emergency medicine researchers.

As our research program grows, we have numerous opportunities for those interested in emergency medicine research. A number of opportunities are highlighted on this site, but if you would like additional information please contact us.
