 AASLD Review

The AASLD Review is designed to give an overview of the liver disease topics that were presented at the annual AASLD meeting. Topics include: viral hepatitis, liver cancer, fatty liver disease, and immunosuppression and immune tolerance in liver transplant.

A continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., welcoming remarks at 8 a.m., and the course runs until 12 p.m. Participants will receive, breakfast, lunch and CME credits.

Jose Franco, MD, Professor of Medicine in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Medical Director of the Liver Transplantation is the course director.

The Digestive Disease Week Review is designed to give an overview of the latest advances in gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy and gastrointestinal surgery, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of digestive disorders, and cutting-edge technological advances that were presented at the annual DDW meeting.

Jose Franco, MD, Professor of Medicine in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Medical Director of the Liver Transplantation is the course director.

 Inflammatory Bowel Disease Update

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology will be hosting the annual Inflammatory Bowel Disease Update. Topics presented by members of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Division of Colorectal Surgery, Department of Radiology, and Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children's Hospital will include: Therapeutic Monitoring in IBD, Small Bowel Imaging, Pregnancy and IBD, Pediatric Management of IBD, Surgical Management of IBD, and Abnormal LFTs in IBD.

The event is intended for gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, internists and family physicians, as well as physician assistants and nurses.

The event is intended for gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, internists and family physicians, as well as physician assistants and nurses. Upon completion of the course participants should:

  • Be able to recognize common liver problems encountered in general practice
  • Become familiar with the standard of care in patients with liver disease
  • Be able to recognize advanced liver disease and when consultation with a hepatologist should be considered

Registration and a continental breakfast will begin at 7 a.m., welcoming remarks at 8 a.m., and the course will end at approximately 4 p.m. Participants will receive breakfast, lunch, course materials and CME credits.

 "State of the Gut" - An Update on Gastrointestinal Disorders

The purpose of this update is to share the most recent developments in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases.

The event is intended for gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, internists and family physicians, as well as physician assistants and nurses. Upon completion of the course participants should:

  • Effectively evaluate patients with iron deficiency anemia
  • Evaluation and manage patients with hepatic encephalopathy due to cirrhosis
  • Effectively manage the patient with peptic ulcer disease
