Edith Burns, MD

Professor of Medicine
Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology

Dr. Burns joined the faculty at the Medical College of Wisconsin in September of 1998. She is a Professor of Medicine at MCW and Director of Ambulatory Geriatrics at the Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Milwaukee. Dr. Burns is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School where she completed her medicine residency.

Dr. Burns completed her fellowship training in Geriatrics and Immunology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Additionally, she completed fellowship training in Behavioral Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Burns' research interests include patient perceptions and self-management of chronic illnesses such as diabetes; application of technology for improving patient self-management and health behaviors; musculoskeletal conditions in aging, and aging and immune function. Currently funded through several sources, including the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program and NIH.
