Global Health Week 2011

November 28-December 2, 2011

Global Health Week FlierWe were very pleased with our inaugural Global Health Week here at MCW,  on our Campus, and in our community.  We are very pleased with the wonderful diversity of 30 speakers and events around topic areas that crossed all of our missions of clinical care, research, education and public health. We had over 725 learners of all levels, staff, faculty, community partners, health care professionals actively participate in the week of events.  We hope that this week will continue to catalyze conversations, ideas, and initiatives that impact neighborhoods in Milwaukee, Belize, Shanghai, and beyond.

Objectives
The Global Health Program is completing a three year strategic plan and will be formally launching their programmatic efforts with a week-long event that increased the visibility of faculty’s global health research, clinical care, education and public health activities both locally and globally.  All events were co-sponsored by over 20 MCW departments, offices and centers.  Eight local and international partnerships that are addressing global health issues, local community-based organizations that service refugees as well as national speakers from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Beijing Genomics Institute and the University of Minnesota provided lectures and increased awareness of their partnerships.

Contact the Global Health Program Manager, Tifany Frazer for more information. Below are several highlighted events.
